For your information:

BG = blood glucose. Currently I am required to track my BG levels (prick my finger) prior to each meal and before bed. My goal is to be between 70 & 140. The day I went into the Dr. to find-out while I felt so crappy, my BG was 495 (instant Diabetes diagnosis). When I go below 70, I start to feel shaky, weak and sweaty. When I am above 200 I feel tired. I am working to find the right balance of food and insulin to prevent that from happening.

Insulin = I take fast-acting insulin to cover the carbs I eat. I keep going back and forth between taking background insulin or not taking it. My body is "honeymooning", or still producing limited insulin on its own, so with exercise I found I don't need the background insulin yet.

A1C = This blood test tells you approximately what your BG levels have been for the past 3 months. My first test showed an A1C of 12.4, which meant that prior to that point my average BG was 330. I hope my next test comes back much lower!
